Vinous | Neil Martin Review

We have great news to share with the latest reviews from renowned international wine critic Neal Martin, writing for Vinous.com. Four of our submitted wines achieved a brilliant 90+ score.

Beaumont Chenin Blanc 2020 – 90 points

The 2020 Chenin Blanc has a straightforward nectarine and peach nose, touches of elderflower cordial developing with aeration. The palate is well balanced, taut and linear, with a fine bead of acidity and veins of Golden Delicious apple and yellow plum toward the finish. This is understated but effective.

Beaumont Hope Marguerite 2019 – 92 points

The 2019 Chenin Blanc Hope Marguerite presents a well-defined nose of peach skin, tangerine peel and light white flower scents that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is fresh and vibrant with more weight than the regular Chenin Blanc, and a little more extract and texture. Lovely satsuma and subtle ginger notes furnish the finish. Very fine.

Beaumont New Baby 2019 – 93 points

The 2019 New Baby is a bit of an odd name, but don't ignore this superb multi-variety white blend from Bot River. It has a complex nose of citrus fruit, yellow flowers and orange blossom, focused and beautifully defined. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and quite saline in the mouth. There’s a pleasing edginess toward the finish, and chamomile lingers on the aftertaste. Excellent.

Beaumont Far Side Mourvedre 2018 – 91 points

The 2018 Mourvèdre Far Side has a detailed nose that does require coaxing, revealing peppermint-tinged black fruit, undergrowth and light cola scents. The palate is medium-bodied, taut and fresh, with very supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity and a touch of white pepper toward the finish. Gentle but well crafted, this should drink well for the next decade.
