Dangerfield Syrah 2018

Syrah or Shiraz are the same grape made in different styles. Wines that are labelled as Shiraz are generally big, ripe, dark fruited and traditionally come from a new world wine country. While Syrah styled wines traditionally come from the northern Rhone region of France, where the wines show more floral, violet, white pepper and spicy characters and are generally lower in alcohol. To highlight the change in our style I decided to call our Syrah – Dangerfield. Our 22-year-old Syrah vines produce amazing fruit which when fermented with natural yeasts and a percentage of whole bunches, create a beautifully aromatic and elegant style of wine.

I enjoyed this wine over a whole weekend recently. From the time I pulled the cork, to the last drop in the bottle, the wine kept surprising me with its delicious freshness and perfumed aromas. Classic spice and herbs on the nose followed by that beautifully silky tannin you know to expect from Syrah.

Enjoy now or over the next 10 years.
