Things to do

Explore and experience the magic of the Bot River Valley, steeped in history and surrounded by mountains, rivers and wildlife. Whether it be on foot, by bike or on horseback, there are fantastic things to see and do in Bot River.

Hiking

Our mountain offers amazing trails. These can either be enjoyed as self-guided trips, or for a more informative experience, book one of our guides, who can give you a more in-depth tour of the local fauna and flora. We are proud members of the Groenlandberg Conservancy and actively involved in number of conservation initiatives.

Birding

Bird spotters are welcome to search out the wide variety of bird species found on the farm and in the mountain. Please send us your list of discoveries for our records.

Trail Runs

A more intense way to enjoy the farm, and our mountain, is by taking part in the annual Botter Trail. Arranged by Quantum Adventures, this 10 or 21km trail run takes you around the farm and way up into the mountains. http://www.quantumadventures.co.za/2013/09/12/botriver-trail-run/

Mountain Biking

Follow the awesome trails that link through Wildekrans all the way to Hermanus.

Historical Walks

For a gentle walk back in time, we will guide you through the cellar, past the mill, below the Constables house and down to the original bridge over the Bot, and in so doing, show you the rich history of the farm. For a self-guided tour collect a map at the tasting room.

Surfing & Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Lucien, also a trained surf coach, regularly takes groups out into the waves in Hermanus. Book him to discover your surfing talents.

Fishing

With both our dams stocked with bass and trout, guests are welcome to fish at any time. Fishing rods can be pre-arranged. Catch and release only.

Our Locals

Join the locals for drinks on the stoep of the Bot River Hotel on Friday nights.

Manny's  is our very own Portuguese restaurant across the street.

The Shuntin Shed, a short walk up the hill to the railway station, offers excellent food, great vibes and a relaxed atmosphere.

Gabrielskloof, Dassiesfontein, Houw Hoek and Peregrine Farm Stall all offer delicious breakfasts, fresh produce and other interesting products.
